WEEK 1

Five schools in the NUC High School Top25 got their seasons started this past week. With none of the five teams losing the rankings will remain the same for one more week. Next week we are bound to see some upsets and surprising scores as most teams begin their 2012 season.
#1 Trinity, KY pulled away from Brentwood Academy, TN in the second half winning 52-23. They were led by senior signal caller Travis Wright who threw for 291 yards and three scores. #8 Goose Creek, SC had no problems in beating Fort Dorchester, SC 28-13 behind 125 yards of offense by senior Tramel Terry. #21 Butler, NC beat rival Mallard Creek, NC 27-6 behind three first half touchdown tosses by Riley Ferguson. #23 Whitehaven, TN got defensive holding Hillcrest, TN to minus 6 yards of total offense in 42-0 victory. Lastly South Panola senior kicker Clatyon Sibley nailed four field goals in 12-10 win over West Point, MS.The last field coming with no time left on the clock. Thus Clayton Sibley is the first NUC High School Player of the Week.
There are four huge matchups this coming week that will surely affect the NUC High School Rankings. On Friday #1 Trinity, KY goes on the road to play Tennessee power Montgomery Bell Academy. Also on Friday #13 Our Lady of Good Counsel makes the long trip to Las Vegas to take on powerhouse Bishop Gorman, NV. On Saturday defending South Carolina 4A DI State Champs Byrnes travels to the Tidewater area to take on fast rising Oscar Smith, VA. On Sunday we have a matchup between two NUC ranked teams as #25 Gilman, MD travel to Ohio to take on #9 Archbishop Moeller.
