2012 NUC FCS POLL

Week 4

The FCS world was stunned when The Citadel ran for 493 yards and crushed Appalachian State 52 to 28. That dominating performance propelled the Bulldogs to #15 in NUC FCS Poll. Also jumping into the Top25 for the first time is McNeese State who has started the season off with a (3-0) record. Falling out but still receiving votes is Tennessee Tech. Also falling out is Stephen F. Austin who now travels to San Marcos to take on Texas State.

There are three really nice matchups this week amongst ranked FCS teams. #3 Sam Houston State travels to Conway, AR to take on the #22 ranked Bears. The Monarchs ranked #4 in the country host the #10 Wildcats of New Hampshire. Finally #5 Northern Iowa, who frustrated both Iowa and Wisconsin, travel to Youngstown, OH to take on the #5 Penguins.

It is never easy picking just one person as the Player of the Week. So the NUC is making an unprecedented statement by recognizing three outstanding performances. NUC alum Taylor Heinicke of Old Dominion completed 21 of 29 passes for 486 yards and seven scores in 70 to 14 win over Campbell. NUC alum Shakir Bell of Indiana State carried the ball 33 times for 349 yards and three scores in 27 to 10 win over Drake.

Finally Matt Brown of Illinois State threw for 473 yards and five touchdowns while also rushing for two scores in 54 to 51 double overtime win over Eastern Illinois.
