2012 NUC FCS POLL Week 6

Two perennial FCS powers find themselves outside the NUC FCS Top25 after digging deep holes early in the season. Montana and Northern Iowa have officially fallen out of the Top25 and are in a must win situation. They are replaced in the polls by Cal Poly and Villanova. The Mustangs went on the road and downed a good North Dakota squad. Villanova went north to Maine and came away with a huge CAA victory.

We have Co-FCS Players of the Week in Eric Breitenstein and Tyrone Goard. This is Breitenstein's second award of the season after rushing for 321 yards and two scores in win over Elon. Wofford is still unbeaten at (4-0). Goard caught seven passes for 175 and four scores in 28 to 16 win over UT-Martin. Yes he caught all four scores for the Colonels.

An FCS school did beat an FBS school this week. The Seawolves of Stony Brook led by running back Miguel Maysonet beat Army 23 to 3. Maysonet ran for over 200 yards and two scores in the contest. No FCS school plays an FBS school this coming week.

There are some huge matchups this week that will definitely affect the FCS playoff picture. In the CAA #11 Towson (2-2) visits #5 James Madison (3-1). In the OVC #18 Eastern Kentucky (4-1) travels to Nashville to take on Tennessee State (5-0).

Perhaps the biggest matchup of the season and surely the biggest matchup in the MVC sees #4 Youngstown State (4-0) travel to #1 North Dakota State (4-0). Last year the only blemish on the Bison (14-1) record was to the Penguins of Youngstown State 27 to 24. The Penguins will have some motivation since they have been chosen as North Dakota State's Homecoming.
