NUC FBS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

WEEK 6

How does one become the NUC FBS Player of the Week? First of all the player has to have attended at least one NUC sponsored event. Secondly the player has to help lead his team to victory over another FBS opponent. This week two individuals helped their school snap long losing streaks with their performance. Both players helped non-BCS schools beat BCS football teams.

Offensive Player of the Week

Andrew Buie, RB, West Virginia

The Mountaineers were greeted by their first hostile environment in the Big12. But that did not stop all-purpose back Andrew Buie from having his best collegiate game to date. Buie carried the ball 31 times for 207 yards and two scores while also catching three passes for 66 yards in 48 to 45 win over the Texas Longhorns. After five games he has carried the ball 83 times for 433 yards and five touchdowns while also catching 16 passes for 231 yards.

Defensive Player of the Week

Dontae Johnson, DB, NC State

Florida State came into Raleigh, NC a heavy favorite to demolish the Wolfpack. Dontae Johnson was part of a defense that thwarted the high powered Seminole attack. This defensive back was in on six tackles, three PBU's, and one sack in 17 to 16 upset win over Florida State. For the season this tall corner has accumulated 24 tackles, 3.5 TFL's, one sack, and five PBU's.
