Strengths: Hobbs is a big, strong, quick and powerful defensive line who exudes massive football potential and the talents to reach the highest level there is in college football. Hobbs is a hardworking young man who puts in the work constantly and lives with the mindset that he will be playing football on Saturday's at a major Division 1 football program. He has high character off the field but plays with a mean and nasty demeanor when it's time to play. Hobbs uses his big frame and speed off the edge to dominate his opponent and consistently put the quarterback on the ground. He has excellent pass rushing moves but uses a lot of his natural athleticism to create plays. Hobbs moves real well for someone his size and someone that is continuing to grow. He is also pretty solid at stopping the run. Hobbs has the physicality and toughness to put his nose on the ball and bring down the ball carrier. Hobbs is very explosive off the line and brings tons of abilities to the game of football that could eventually become a complete defensive end prospect.
Weaknesses: Hobbs already has the look of a college defensive end but of course needs to work on several areas of his game if he plans to compete at the highest level of college football. Hobbs needs to work on his top end speed as well as learning more ways to get after the quarterback. Sometimes he plays too much off pure talent and needs to learn smarter ways to get through and around the offensive tackle. Hobbs only played in 3 games last year because of injuries. He needs to continue to train and work on his conditioning so he can withstand the physicality that comes in college football. Hobbs can sometimes play too high and that hinders him from getting into the tackle and that keeps Hobbs at bay from getting into the backfield.
Overview: Hobbs is a big time talent who could be one of the top recruited prospects in the state of Pennsylvania for the 2014 recruiting class and he has yet to reach his maximum potential. He has all the tools and talents to play in any BCS conference at the Division 1 level. Not a lot of people know about Hobbs as of yet but he plans to make a name for himself over the summer as well as putting in big performances all the way throughout his junior season. Recruiting has yet to start for Hobbs but soon enough he is sure to have any and all college football coaches knocking on his door.
