Van Nuys (CA) Birmingham Quarterback Trae Smith is garnering interest from a multitude of schools. Smith is still looking for his first offer. The Dual threat plans on making the rounds at college camps to try to pick up the first offer.

Smith led his Birmingham squad to a 9-3 record. He threw for 1,423 yards and amassed 25 total touchdowns. At 6-3 and 195 pounds, Smith fits the mold of a spread offense Quarterback. With his size and speed, he has the ability to beat teams with his arm and his feet. Smith has good mechanics and a smooth release. It will not be long before he receives his first scholarship offer.

Trae Smith Highlights

Steven Barsamian NUC: How are the offseason workouts going?

Trae Smith: They are going very well. I'm lifting weights five days a week. I throw after school and practice is going well.

TS: My speed, my arm (strength), and my leadership.

NUC: What are your goals next year as a player and a team?

TS: My goal as a player is to throw over 3,000 yards and get a Division One scholarship. And as a team our goal is to win the city title, win every game, and win the State championship.

NUC: What is your favorite Professional Sports team?

TS: Carolina Panthers

NUC: What is your video game?

TS: Madden

NUC: Who is your favorite athlete?

TS: It was Cam Newton, but now it is Robert Griffin III

NUC: On to the recruiting side, how's the recruiting process going?

TS: It's going pretty well. No offers yet. I have to get some classes to get qualified. But I have a lot of interest from schools.

NUC: Have any teams told you they are close to offering?

TS: Teams have told me the only thing holding them back on offering are my grades. Oklahoma St, Nevada, and UNLV are some of the teams close to offering.

NUC: Do you have any camps or visits lined up for the summer?

TS: I'm going to the Elite 11 this month in Vegas. I'm going to the UCLA camp on June 22nd, the USC camp on June 10th, and Oregon State next month.
