Smyrna (DE)- Day three of the Ultimate 100 East consisted of athletes from the class of 2013. Over 200 rising seniors from around the northeast were on hand to perform against the best in the northeast. Below are the top performers from U100 East: |
Kenny Doughti, WR, Egg Harbor, NJ Testing: height 5-9 ½ weight 180; vert 33.5, broad 9'4, 40 4.57 Strengths: Doughti started the day at quarterback. He was moved to wide receiver because of his athleticism and it turned out to be a great switch. Doughti did very well in the one-on-ones using his natural abilities. As a wideout, Doughti displayed very good hands. Doughti is a natural athlete and he has the versatility to play multiple positions. For his performance, Doughti earned the Dodie award. Development: Wide receiver might not be his future position, but Doughti excelled at it on the day. Doughti has to learn more of the wide receiver position because he is fairly inexperienced at this position. Since he plays quarterback for his Egg Harbor squad, it is unlikely he'll be able to develop these skills on the gridiron this fall. Having said all that, his position at the next level will most likely not be at quarterback. |

Nate Chavius, RB Bellport Hs, NY Testing: height 5-8 weight 161 shuttle 4.32 Strengths: Chavius won the running back MVP for Day 3. Chavius impressed in his ability to catch the football and his ability to create separation. His route running is very polished for a running back. Chavius knew how to manipulate his defender with subtle fakes. In the 7-on-7, he scored most of his team's touchdowns. Developments: Chavius will have to keep hitting the weight room hard and adding weight to his frame. He is a versatile back, so the 175 pound range is a good weight for him. With a 4.32 shuttle time his other testing numbers can be much better. |

Asunji Maddox, Goldsboro High, NC Testing: height 5-10 ½ , weight 178.6; vert 30, broad 9'04, shuttle 4.15, 40: 4.59 Strengths: Maddox did very well in the combine part of the camp. He ran a remarkable 4.15 shuttle. Maddox displayed quality footwork and hips in the one on ones and the 7on7s. Maddox's performance in the 7on7 portion really put him over the top as the top DB of the day. With that 7on7 performance, he won the DB MVP award. Maddox made several nice plays on the day. He had a knack for making a big play for his gray squad when they needed it. Maddox has a good height and weight for a corner back. Development: Maddox will need to keep working on his jams in press coverage. He did well in press coverage but he tends to be off balance when he goes for the jam. He should give a quick punch to the shoulder and ride the receiver off his route. |
Darrion Locke, OG/C, Winston Churchill, MD Testing: height 6-1 ½ weight 349 Strengths: Locke has good size and height for a center. In spite of a broken wrist, Locke dominated the competition with great footwork. Locke has a solid base and great power in his pass blocks. He looks like he is a mauler in the run game. Rarely did you see Locke lose a one-on-one. He is always balanced and is able to stay with the defender. Locke was the best Offensive Lineman on the day and with his performance he won the Overall MVP. Development: Locke's armspan isn't quite as long as many college linemen, so it will be tougher if he faces longer and quicker opponents in the future. Right now he looks like an underrated division one player. |
Brian McNeil, QB, Brewster HS, NY Testing: height 6-4 weight:194 Strengths: McNeil has the prototypical size for a quarterback. In the throwing part of the one-on-ones, McNeil looked impressive. He has a cannon for an arm and makes throws to the sidelines effortlessly. He has smooth mechanics and decent footwork. His throws are accurate and on time. McNeil can make all the throws and make them accurately. McNeil can be a Division One quarterback. Development: McNeil needs to work on his drops more. He needs to be quicker with his first step. Other than that, McNeil was very impressive on the day and if his film matches his performance in the camp, it is quite puzzling why he does not have more looks. |
Richie Staton, LB, Recoughton HS, DE Testing: height 5-11 weight 226.8; vert 30, broad 8'09, bench 22 @185, 40: 4.76 Strengths: Staton excelled in the combine portion. His vert and forty are impressive for a linebacker his size. With his bench press stats, it displays he has the strength as well as the athleticism. Staton moves very well side to side in his shuffle. Staton did well in one on one coverage. Staton was better in zone, he knew how to jump routes. Staton came away with a couple of interceptions. Development: Staton needs to keep working on his footwork. He will also need to do some ball drills to improve his ball skills. |
