Bellport (NY) running back Nate Chavious put on an impressive performance to earn the RB MVP at the Ultimate 100 East in Smyrna, Delaware. The class of 2013 running back was steady throughout the day. For a running back, Chavious' hands and route running were outstanding. Chavious was a gamer during the 7-on-7 portion. He made plays and scored touchdowns, which is all you can ask from a player. |

Steven Barsamian NUC: What was your reaction to winning the RB MVP? Nate Chavious: Initially, I was pretty surprised because of the fact that I ran a very disappointing 40 yard dash time, a time that is not near what I have been running. NUC: What did you think about the competition? NC: The competition was great. As a competitor, I enjoy being around players that force me to raise my level of play. The linebackers were very athletic during the 1 on 1's and they were very competitive. NUC: Awesome. Are you going to the top prospect combine in (OK)? NC: I am definitely going to try my best to get there. NUC: What are your expectations next season for your team? NC: I believe that we can and will win the Long Island Championship. We have a few key players returning and the team has been working hard. The ball will be on the ground a lot and I am working towards a BIG year NUC: Ok so what are your individual goals for next season? NC:
Leading the team to a championship. NUC: How are the offseason workouts going? NC: As of right now, many of my workouts are restricted due to a wrist injury that occurred during the season. I had surgery about 7 weeks ago and my full recovery time is 10-12 weeks. I have not lifted too much in the past few months. But I have been continuing to run and go through agility drills NUC: What are your strengths as a player? NC: Instincts, vision, elusiveness, agility and versatility. I can be a threat from multiple positions including Running back, which is my primary position, slot receiver or returner. NUC: What do you like about playing RB? NC: The ability to be a game changer in more than one way. If a team is stopping you on the ground, you can elevate your receiving out of the backfield or on your blocking. NUC: So how has the recruiting process been going? Have any schools contacted you yet? NC: The recruiting process has been pretty good but slow which is partly my fault because we did not get my film out until about 2 or 3 months after the season. As of right now I have no offers but the main schools I have been in contact with are UConn(camped there Saturday before u100), Virginia(Camping there July 21st), Pitt, Rutgers, James Madison, and Towson. NUC: Ok any more camps you plan on attending? NC: Cincinatti, James Madison. Possibly a few more but that needs to be reviewed with my Dad NUC: Do you have any more combines in your plans? NC: No combines on the schedule but that could change |
