Smyrna (DE)- Winston Churchill (MD) offensive lineman Darrion Locke dominated the opposition. Locke won the Overall MVP award for the class of 2103 at the Ultimate 100 East. Footwork and quickness are what makes him stand out. Locke was able to stay in front of any defensive lineman because of his excellent footwork. Locke had a couple of pancakes on the day due to his raw power. Locke was able to stay balanced and low in the one-on-ones.

Steven Barsamian NUC: What was your reaction to winning the Overall MVP for the U100 camp?

Darrion Locke: When I heard I wasn't the Offensive Line MVP I was shocked, but then I heard my name called as the Overall MVP. I knew I was going to come away with some award. I kind of expected to get an award but I didn't expect to get the Overall MVP.

NUC: How are the offseason workouts going?

DL: It's going well. We work out 5 days a week. For 3 days we lift and do conditioning. The other two days we do agility drills and speed training.

NUC: What are your expectations next season for your team?

DL: Just to continue the success from last season. We had a really big season last year and we would like to take that next step. We want go to states and win states.

NUC: What are your individual goals for next year?

DL: As a player, I would like to be the best player I can be and I would like to be considered the best Offensive Lineman in the area.

NUC: How do you go about achieving those goals?

DL: Working hard, and dedication in the offseason.

NUC: What would you say your strengths are as a player?

DL: I would probably say my quickness for a big man and the use of my hands. Also knowing what I need to work on to make myself better.

NUC: How did you break your wrist?

DL: During the season we played Gaithersburg and I hurt it during the first half. During halftime I was playing with it and it didn't feel right. I could not put weight on it or flex it. It was just in pain. So I couldn't play the second half. After the game I went to the emergency room and they said it was just a sprain. So I just taped it up and played the rest of the season with it taped up. After the season, I was lifting and it just kept aggravating me. So, I went to a doctor and he said it has been broken since the game where I initially hurt it. So, I had surgery on it the week after.

NUC: What is your favorite position to play: guard, center, or defensive tackle?

DL: I would probably say center. But at the same time I can play either or.

NUC: How has the recruiting process been going?

DL: It's been going slow. It's going slower than it should be or how I want it to be. Hopefully things will pick up after these next couple weeks.

NUC: Are you planning on going to any college camps?

DL: I went to the Maryland camp. Now I'm just getting ready for Oklahoma. (The NUC Top Prospect Camp)

NUC: What are you looking forward to at the NUC Top Prospect camp at Oklahoma?

DL: I'm really looking forward to the competition. I am looking forward to competing against competition that is not from around here. I'm also looking forward to getting my name out there.

NUC: What are goals for the Top Prospect Camp?

DL: Just coming home being the Offensive Line MVP and the Overall MVP again.
