NUC FBS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - WK 7
How does one become the NUC FBS Player of the Week? First of all the player has to have attended at least one NUC sponsored event. Secondly the player has to help lead his team to victory over another FBS opponent. This week two individuals helped their school snap long losing streaks with their performance. Both players helped non-BCS schools beat BCS football teams.
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
This freshman is treating his first year of football like a video game. Manziel completed 24 of 40 passes for 395 yards and three touchdowns. He also carried the ball 19 times for 181 yards and three scores in 59 to 57 win over Louisiana Tech. Yes! that is 576 yards of offense and six touchdowns in one game. In six games this year he has carried the ball 91 times for 676 yards and ten scores. He has also completed 128 of 190 passes for 1,680 yards and 14 touchdowns versus just three picks.
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Cody Vaz, QB, Oregon State
Cody Vaz had to fill in for the injured Sean Mannion against a BYU defense that had been giving up only five points a game at home. What did he do? Vaz completed 20 of 32 passes for 332 yards and three scores without an interception in 42 to 24 win over the Cougars. The #8 Beavers now host Utah for homecoming this Saturday.
Defensive Player of the Week
Tony Jefferson, DB, Oklahoma
Jefferson was part of a swarming Oklahoma defense that embarrassed the Longhorns 63 to 21 in the annual Red River Shootout. He was in on seven tackles, two TFL's, and had an interception in the game. After five games he is the Sooners leading tackler with 37 stops. The huge win propelled Oklahoma to #10 in the country.
Other NUC Alums considered for NUC FBS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Coleman finally got his chance to show what he could do as he carried the ball 13 times for 183 yards and two scores in 41 to 20 win over Duke.
