LONE STAR'S SHINE IN WEEK SIX No state produces more Division I football players per year than Texas. The Lone Star State has produced 369 DI players this past year. And no company has more high school football players come through their camps than the National Underclassmen Combine. Over the last three seasons well over 3,000 high school players have gone through NUC camps held in Texas. Below are just some of the former NUC stars that shined during Week Zero. We have co-NUC Lone Star Players of the Week in Dru Smith, QB, Sherman, TX and Bryan Driskell, RB, McKinney Boyd, TX. Smith completed 20 of 26 passes for for 349 yards and five touchdowns in 49 to 38 win over Wylie East, TX. For the season he has completed 112 of 168 (66.7%) pass attempts for 2,121 yards with 23 TD passes and only three picks. Driskell carried the ball 26 times for 201 yards and two scores while also catching a two passes for 26 yards and a score. He also returned a kickoff 77 yards for a touchdown in 55 to 28 win over Plano West, TX. For the season he has rushed 132 times for 1,116 yards and 12 touchdowns while catching 11 passes for 120 yards and one score. More amazingly he has already returned four kicks for scores. If any NUC alum from Texas that projects as a DI recruit wants to contact the NUC about their weekly stats and game result you can contact Barry Every on Twitter @NUCBarry. Good luck to every former NUC player from the Lone Star State in Week Five!
