NUC FBS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

How does one become the NUC FBS Player of the Week? First of all the player has to have attended at least one NUC sponsored event. Secondly the player has to help lead his team to victory over another FBS opponent. This week two individuals helped their school snap long losing streaks with their performance. Both players helped non-BCS schools beat BCS football teams.

Offensive Player of the Week

Tajh Boyd, QB, Clemson

Boyd completed 27 of 38 passes for 428 yards and five touchdowns in 42 to 13 win over Wake Forest. The junior from Hampton, VA has completed 176 of 260 passes (67.7%) for 2,336 yards and 20 touchdowns versus six picks in eight games. Boyd has also rushed for 278 yards and an additional four scores this season.

Defensive Player of the Week

Usua Amanam, DB, Stanford

This defensive back was part of a Stanford Cardinal record ten sacks in one game this past week. Amanam recorded six solo tackles, one assisted tackle, 2.5 TFL's, and two sacks in 24 to 17 win over Washington State. For the season this hard hitting defensive back from San Jose, CA has recorded 40 tackles, ten TFL's, four sacks, six PBU's, and two fumble recoveries in eight games.

Other NUC Alums considered for NUC FBS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

David Fluellen, RB, Toledo

Fluellen carried the ball 35 times for 228 yards and two scores in 25 to 20 win over Buffalo.

 

Ray Graham, RB, Pittsburgh

Graham carried the ball 19 times for 109 yards and two scores while also catching four passes for 71 yards and a touchdown in 47 to 17 win over Temple.

 

Collin Klein, QB, Kansas State

Klein completed 19 of 26 passes for 233 yards and two scores while also rushing for 83 yards and two scores in 55 to 24 win over Texas Tech.

 

Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M

This dynamic signal caller completed 16 of 23 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns in 63 to 21 win at Auburn. He also ran for 90 yards and three scores in the game.

Cameron Nwosu

Nwosu had four solo tackles; three assisted tackles, one interception, and one PBU in 44 to 17 win over Southern Mississippi.
