Austin Second Session Article
QB COLIN RENTON ESTABLISHES HIMSELF
AS A FUTURE STAR.
SOUTHWEST 2 FIRST SESSION, JUNE 1,
2007, LAKE TRAVIS HS, AUSTIN, TX
The National Underclassmen Combine
made a return trip to Texas
recently, this time hitting up the
Austin area. This was also the
first opportunity for the Combine to
take its stage under the lights.
Leading the way in the first session
was Overall MVP sophomore QB Colin
Renton of The Woodlands High School
in Texas. Renton, 5-foot-11 and
190-pounds, showed an impressive
combination of athleticism, decision
making, and ball delivery. He also
had a 30.5-inch vertical, 97
broad, 4.63 40, 4.68 shuttle, and
did 25 reps on 150-pounds.
While Renton won the Overall MVP,
the QB MVP went to sophomore Connor
Wood of Second Baptist High School
in Texas. Wood, 6-foot-2 ½ and
200-pounds, is a tremendous
dual-threat prospect, and has great
athleticism, footwork, and an
impressive release. He had a
29.5-inch vertical, 94 broad, 4.60
40, 4.53 shuttle, and 21 reps on
135-pounds.
The Fastest Man Award went to
sophomore CB Julian Dozier of Stony
Point High School in Texas. Dozier,
5-foot-7 and 160-pounds, ran a 4.32
40, which was a Combine record,
until it was toppled only a week
later at the Ultimate 100 Camp.
Aside from the blistering 40 time,
Dozier also had 21 reps on
150-pounds, a 95 broad, and
31.5-inch vertical.
Anthony Moore of Judson High School
in Texas took home the DB MVP, after
showing tremendous athleticism,
strength, and cover skills
throughout the session. Moore,
6-foot-1 and 180-pounds, also
excelled during the combine events
with a 4.51 shuttle, 88 ½ broad,
4.49 40, 21 reps on 150-pounds, and
a 28-inch vertical. He also touched
126 on the jump reach. Another
defensive back who showed great
cover skills during the 1-on-1s was
sophomore safety Robert Shaw of
Judson High School in Texas. Shaw,
5-foot-9 and 180-pounds, also had a
4.64 40 and 26-inch vertical.
Winning the DL MVP was sophomore
Alex Okafor of Pfluegerville High
School in Texas. Okafor, 6-foot-4
and 230-pounds, has all the tools to
become a big time D-1 prospect, and
his athleticism and speed are
amazing for a player of his size.
He had a 27-inch vertical, 4.59 40,
and 89 ½ broad. Two other
defensive linemen who deserve
special mention are sophomore Bobby
Kiesewetter of Cinco Ranch High
School in Texas and freshman Elliot
Hillard of Shoemaker High School in
Texas. Kiesewetter, 6-foot-1 and
217-pounds, has great athleticism
and was dominant during 1-on-1s.
During the combine events he had a
29-inch vertical, 5.01 40, 4.56
shuttle, and 22 reps on 185-pounds.
Hillard, 6-foot-1 ½ and 235-pounds,
showed great strength for a freshman
and has a ton of potential. He also
had a 22-inch vertical, 710 broad,
and a 5.68 40.
Brian Cocoran, 5-foot-11 and
199-pounds, of Klein Oak High School

especially impressive during the
individual skills portion of the
session. He had a 27.5-inch
vertical, 84 broad, 4.78 40, 4.47
shuttle, and 25 reps on 150-pounds.
The running back position produced
several memorable performances, and

spectacular during 1-on-1s and
showed phenomenal athleticism
throughout the session. He had a
35-inch vertical, 94 broad, 4.44
40, 4.52 shuttle, and 23 reps on

31-inch vertical, 92 broad, 4.41
40, 4.64 shuttle, and 15 reps on

This session was dominated by Texas
players, with the only out-of-state

extremely accurate during 1-on-1s
and individual drills, plus showed
very good speed and footwork. He
also had a 4.70 40, 88 broad,
31-inch vertical, and did 25 reps on
135-pounds.
The OL MVP went to sophomore Ameer
Townes of Judson High School in
Texas. Townes, 5-foot-11 and
310-pounds, has a great combination
of technique, footwork, and
athleticism for a player of his
size. He also had a 20.5-inch
vertical, 5.33 40, 4.84 shuttle, 77
½ broad, and 25 reps on

impressive technique and athleticism
for an offensive lineman. He had a

brightest star of the second session
was Overall MVP sophomore WR Daxton

wide receiver, with great hands,
speed, and route running ability.
He also had a 30-inch vertical, 4.48
40, 99 broad, and 17 reps on
150-pounds.

athleticism, speed, and route
running ability. He also had 30

40, 4.40 shuttle, 94 broad,
35-inch vertical, and 14 reps on
