Has Top Flight Talent

The
National Underclassmen Combine
hit the talent rich Dade/Broward
County area recently, and the
player who stood out amongst
everyone else was Overall MVP
Darryl Williams of Palmetto High
School. Williams, a sophomore
wide receiver, was incredible
during 1-on-1’s, which included
two one-handed catches and also
an amazing diving reception.
During the combine events,
Williams, 5-foot-8 ½ and
161-pounds, finished with a
4.505 40, 9’1 ½” broad, and 4.42
shuttle.

One
of the deepest positions at the
Miami event was at quarterback,
where the MVP went to sophomore
Cobie Graham of Jupiter High
School. Graham, 6-foot-0 and
170-pounds, was the best passer
of the day in Miami and was
phenomenal during 1-on-1’s. He
also had a 28-inch vertical,
8’7” broad, 4.60 shuttle, and 19
reps at 150-pounds.

Two
other quarterbacks who deserve
special mention are freshman
Brandon Doughty of Chaminade-Madonna
and sophomore Victor Marc of Dr.
Michael Krop High School.
Doughty, 6-foot-2 ¼ and
185-pounds, showcased pinpoint
accuracy during passing drills,
and had a 7’7” broad, 4.75
shuttle, and 16 reps at
135-pounds. Marc, 5-foot-11 and
208-pounds, is a tremendous
dual-threat quarterback with an
excellent arm and athleticism.
He also had a 4.59 40, 8’8”
broad, 4.49 shuttle, and 15 reps
at 150-pounds.

The
WR MVP went to sophomore James
Green of Dr. Michael Krop High
School. Green, 6-foot-2 and
184-pounds, was silky smooth
during 1-on-1’s, and was also
impressive during the combine
events with a 4.30 shuttle, 4.61
40, 8’9” broad, and 28.5-inch
vertical.

Another receiver who excelled
was sophomore Jamaal Fleming of
John Ferguson High School.
Fleming, 6-foot-2 and
166-pounds, has amazing hands
and impressive route running
ability, and also had a 9’1”
broad, 26-inch vertical and 4.94
40.

Dominating the running back
position was sophomore Brandon
Oliver of Miami Southridge High
School. Oliver, 5-foot-6 ½ and
180-pounds, was unstoppable
during the event and did equally
well during drills and the
1-on-1’s. He also stood out
during the combine events with a
4.08 shuttle, 4.61 40, 9’1”
broad, and 31-inch vertical.
His shuttle time was actually
the 3rd fastest
shuttle time in the history of
the National Underclassmen
Combine.

Sophomore Phil Doumar of Jupiter
High School walked away with the
OL MVP. Doumar, 5-foot-11 ½ and
210-pounds, displayed tremendous
footwork and quickness, and had
a 5.08 40, 27-inch vertical, 7’8
½” broad, and 12 reps at
185-pounds. Doumar is also an
impressive long-snapper.

The
race for the LB MVP was too
close to call so two players
went home with the award. First
up was sophomore Quanthony
Fletcher of Dr. Michael Krop
High School. Fletcher, 6-foot-1
and 246-pounds, showed excellent
reaction during the positional
drills and amazing movement and
hips for a player of his size.
He also had 24 reps at
150-pounds, a 4.50 shuttle, 4.95
40, 8’3” broad, and 30.5-inch
vertical.

Winning the other half of the LB
Co-MVP was sophomore Daniel Mack
of Dade Christian High School.
Mack, 5-foot-10 ½ and
185-pounds, has the ability to
be either a linebacker or safety
at the next level due to his
tremendous athleticism and
speed. During the combine
events he finished with a 4.37
shuttle, 4.57 40, 28.5-inch
vertical, 8’8” broad, and 23
reps at 150-pounds. While
Fletcher and Mack walked away
with the hardware, two other
linebackers also deserve special
mention.

Sophomore Marcus Lemons of Miami
Sunset, 6-foot-0 and 190-pounds,
did a great job during 1-on-1’s
and had a 4.98 40, 8’1” broad,
4.73 shuttle, and 17 reps at
150-pounds.

Similar to his teammate Daniel
Mack, sophomore Derek Marrero
also showcased the athleticism
that gives him the ability to be
either a linebacker or safety at
the next level. At 5-foot-11
and 175-pounds he had a 4.60 40,
4.38 shuttle, 9’2” broad,
30.5-inch vertical, and 19 reps
at 150-pounds.

The
DL MVP went to sophomore Brandon
Taylor, 6-foot-0 ½ and
290-pounds, of Dr. Michael Krop
High School. Taylor, who is the
son of Lawrence Taylor, is a
tremendous athlete and was a
powerhouse on the defensive
line. He also had 26 reps at
185-pounds, a 5.35 40, and 7’3”
broad.

Dr.
Michael Krop High School took
home yet another MVP at the DB
position, as sophomore Ricardo
Dixon showed great shutdown
abilities at the cornerback
position. Dixon, 5-foot-9 ½ and
160-pounds, also had a 4.73 40
and 4.62 shuttle.

WR
Ted Meline of TJMS in Florida
took home the Freshman MVP.
Meline, 6-foot-1 ½ and
161-pounds, ran tremendous
routes and showed incredible
hands during the 1-on-1’s. The
frosh also had a 29-inch
vertical, 4.54 40, and 9’1”
broad.

Joining Meline as a top freshman
was LB David Lozandier of North
Miami Senior High School.
Lozandier, 5-foot-10 and
163-pounds, showed great
athleticism and hips during
1-on-1’s and drills, and had 13
reps at 135-pounds, a 27-inch
vertical, 4.83 40, and 8’7”
broad.

Finally, the Fastest Man Award
went to Taj Harris of Homestead
Senior High School. Harris,
5-foot-7 ½ and 181-pounds, who
had a 4.504 40, was also very
impressive during 1-on-1’s and
the remaining combine events.
He had a 34.5-vertical, 9’10”
broad, and 19 reps at
150-pounds.
