ORLANDO AFTERNOON SESSION IS
DOMINATED BY THE ATHLETES OF
SHAW HS IN GEORGIA

The
afternoon session in Orlando had
a number of impressive
performances, plus it was a very
special afternoon for Shaw High
School in Georgia, as the school
walked away with multiple
awards. Leading the charge was
the Overall MVP and Fastest Man
Award winner sophomore WR
Tavarus Lewis of Shaw. Lewis,
6-foot-0 and 170-pounds, was
absolutely unstoppable during
the 1-on-1’s with a combination
of great hands, athleticism,
route running, and technique.
He also had a 31-inch vertical,
8’11 ½” broad, 4.39 shuttle, 15
reps at 150-pounds, and the
award winning 40 time of 4.53.

The
RB MVP went to sophomore Kyle
Griswold of Shaw High School.
Griswold, 5-foot-9 and
173-pounds, is a great athlete
and showcases very impressive
running back skills. He also
had a 31-inch vertical, 9’1”
broad, 4.63 40, 4.30 shuttle,
and 18 reps at 150-pounds.

Another running backs that
deserve mention is sophomore
James Washington of Edgewater
High School. Washington,
5-foot-10 and 165-pounds, has
great overall skills and did
very well during the 1-on-1’s.
He also had a 30.5-inch
vertical, 8’5” broad, 4.52
shuttle, 4.62 40, and had 24
reps at 150-pounds.

The
winner of the WR MVP was
sophomore Marcus Solomon of
Lowndes High School in Georgia.
Solomon, 5-foot-10 and
189-pounds, showcased phenomenal
route running ability and also
great timing and body control.
During the combine events he
also had a 31-inch vertical,
4.64 40, 4.55 shuttle, 9’1”
broad, and 18 reps at
150-pounds.

Pushing
Solomon during the entire
afternoon were two Shaw High
School sophomore, Antoine
Stevenson and Toriano Holt.
Stevenson, 5-foot-10 ½ and
171-pounds, was awesome during
1-on-1’s and had a 34.5-inch
vertical, 9’0 ½” broad, 4.78 40,
and 4.48 shuttle, while Holt,
5-foot-10 and 175-pounds, is a
great athlete and runs great
routes. He also had a 33-inch
vertical, 9’1 ½” broad, 4.76 40,
4.58 shuttle, and 21 reps at
150-pounds.

Two
quarterbacks stood out
throughout the afternoon, with
the MVP going go freshman
Chandler Whitmer of Downers
Grove South High School in
Illinois. Whitmer, 5-foot-11 ½
and 190-pounds, is a great
athlete, with a impressive arm
and decision making ability. He
also had a 29.5-inch vertical,
8’7” broad, 4.89 40, 4.32
shuttle, and had 24 reps at
135-pounds.

Also
excelling was sophomore Robert
Hern of West Nassau High School
in Florida. Hern, 6-foot-2 ½
and 195-pounds, is a classic
drop back quarterback with a
rocket for an arm. He had a
4.67 shuttle, 8’ 0” broad, and
17 reps at 150-pounds.

The
race for the Freshman MVP was
too close to call, so it was
decided that the honor would go
to two athletes. First up is LB
Geno Porter of Fort Dorchester
in South Carolina. Porter,
5-foot-1 and 203-pounds, has a
great combination of speed an
power for a freshman
linebacker. He had a 30.5-inch
vertical, 9’0” broad, 4.89 40,
4.89 shuttle, and 35 reps at
135-pounds. Joining Porter as
the Freshman Co-MVP was WR
Torian Richardson from Byrnes
High School in South Carolina.
Richardson, 5-foot-9 ½ and
169-pounds, showcased great
route running and catching
ability during both the
positional drills and 1-on-1’s.
He also had the best vertical
jump of the day at 36-inches,
and had an 8’8” broad, 4.60
shuttle, and 4.67 40.

The
OL MVP went to sophomore Stephen
Whitmer of Newberry High School
in Florida. Whitmer, 6-foot-1
and 312-pounds, has great
offensive lineman skills and
both impressive hands and feet.
He had a 21.5-inch vertical,
6’10” broad, 5.77 40, and 32
reps at 185-pounds.

The
defensive line position had two
top performers, with the MVP
going to sophomore Solomon
Nelson of West Nassau High
School in Florida. Nelson,
5-foot-11 and 191-pounds, has
great speed and athleticism and
could be either a speed rushing
end or outside linebacker at the
next level. He showed all of
this potential during the
1-on-1’s, where he continuously
excelled. He also had a
30.5-inch vertical, 8’10” broad,
4.80 40, and 12 reps at
185-pounds.

Sophomore John Drew of Northside
High School in Georgia was
another defensive lineman who
made a good impression. At
6-foot-1 ½ and 297-pounds, he
has the potential to be a
tremendous defensive tackle
prospect because of his great
power and athleticism. He had a
29.5-inch vertical, 5.21 40,
5.01 shuttle, 8’3” broad, and 24
reps at 185-pounds.

The
LB MVP went to sophomore Chris
Lickfield of Spruce Creek High
School in Florida. Lickfield,
5-foot-10 and 207-pounds, showed
great cover skills during both
the individual drills and
1-on-1’s. During the combine
events he finished with a
30.5-inch vertical, 8’7 ½”
broad, 4.60 shuttle, 4.75 40,
and 23 reps at 150-pounds.

The
final award of the Orlando event
went to DB MVP sophomore Ryan
Campbell of Shaw High School in
Georgia. Campbell, 5-foot-11 ½
and 175-pounds, is a lock down
corner with great hips. He had
a 31-inch vertical, 4.62 40,
4.51 shuttle, 9’0” broad, and 20
reps at 150-pounds.
