| NUC EAST 1 3/31/07 -The Sports Factory, Lincoln Park, NJ |
| After an action filled morning session on Saturday at the National Underclassmen Combine, the afternoon session produced an even greater number of participants. Once again, the action was intense, and a number of players stepped forward to produce memorable moments, but at the top was RB Artrele Louis, who won both the Overall MVP and the Fastest Man Award. |

| Louis, 5-foot-10 and 168-pounds, a sophomore from Al Brown High School in North Carolina, was excellent during the individual drills and showcased his explosiveness throughout the day. During the combine events he finished with a 4.45 40, 4.34 shuttle, 32-inch vertical, and 9’7” broad. With Louis winning the Overall MVP, the RB MVP went to sophomore Mike Yeager of St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia. Yeager, 5-foot-9 and 169-pounds, was unstoppable during 1-on-1’s and displayed great footwork during individual drills. He also had a very impressive 36-inch vertical, 27 reps at 150-pounds, 4.36 shuttle, and 4.62 40. |

Staying on the offensive side of the ball, the QB MVP went to sophomore Justin Shirk of Central Dauphin High School in Pennsylvania. Shirk, 6-foot-1 and 210-pounds, has a rocket for an arm, yet also shows superb touch when necessary, has great rollout skills, and is built like Tarzan. During the combine events he had 25 reps at 150-pounds, an 8’11” broad, 26-inch vertical, 4.78 shuttle, and 4.87 40. It may be early, but Shirk has all the makings of a top flight quarterback prospect. Another quarterback worth mentioning is sophomore Mark Giubilato of St. Joseph’s Prep in Philadelphia. Giubilato, 6-foot-3 and 215-pounds, has the potential to be a top dual-threat quarterback prospect, as he showcased impressive athleticism and a powerful arm. He finished the combine events with 23 reps at 150-pounds, a 27-inch vertical, 8’5.5” broad, 4.95 40, and 4.45 shuttle.
Pennsylvania was represented yet again with the OL MVP, sophomore Neil Moloney of Holy Name High School. Moloney, 6-foot-3.5 and 246-pounds, was dominant during 1-on-1’s and had a 5.18 shuttle, 5.48 40, 7’7.5” broad, and 23.5-inch vertical. |

| The WR/TE MVP for the afternoon session went to sophomore Jerry Watters of Camden Catholic High School in New Jersey. Watters, 5-foot-11 and 151-pounds, had a flair for the dramatic during 1-on-1’s as he pulled off several spectacular receptions. His combine events were highlighted by a 9’2” broad, but he also proved his athleticism with a 4.41 shuttle, 28-inch vertical, and 4.68 40. |

| Our look at the defensive side of the ball begins with the defensive line, which had two performers that battled it out for the MVP. Coming away with the honor was sophomore Jack Lippert, 6-foot-5 and 216-pounds, of Central Dolphin. During the 1-on-1’s, Lippert showcased flawless technique and a very quick first step, while during the combine he had 18 reps at 185-pounds, a 26.5-inch vertical, 8’4.5” broad, 4.68 shuttle, and 4.82 40. Competing with Lippert until the bitter end was sophomore Andre Civil, 6-foot-5 and 248-pounds, of Sheepshead Bay High School in New York. Civil has the athletic ability and potential to be a can’t miss D1 defensive end prospect. This impressive specimen finished with 22 reps at 185-pounds, a 26-inch vertical, 8’9” broad, 4.98 40, and 4.59 shuttle. |

| Headlining the defensive back position was MVP sophomore Darryl Harrison of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Maryland. Harrison, 5-foot-9 and 151-pounds, showed great ball skills and footwork during individual drills and was excellent during 1-on-1’s. He also had an 8’11” broad, 29-inch vertical, and 4.65 40. |

| The LB MVP went to sophomore Andrew Meredith, who also went by the name “Hollywood.” Meredith, 6-foot-0 and 174-pounds, made his way to New Jersey from Green River High School in Wyoming and obviously made his trip worthwhile, as he not only was he the top linebacker in this session, but also showcased the best 1-on-1 skills of any linebacker during the two day event. During the 1-on-1’s he covered like a defensive back, but was still as physical as a linebacker, and his tremendous athleticism, footwork, and workman-like attitude had the coaches at the combine referring to him as “Hollywood.” He seems to be a perfect fit for a 3-5-3 system, where he could play the increasingly popular rover position. During the combine events he had a 29-inch vertical, 9’ broad, 4.25 shuttle, 4.84 40, and 22 reps at 150-pounds. |
 |
| Andrew Meredith with Coach Schuman |
| Another linebacker/defensive end worth mentioning is sophomore Eric Smith of Concord High School in Delaware. Smith, 6-foot-2 and 235-pounds, possesses tremendous athleticism and speed, which is a rare combination. Smith started the day with a fantastic 9’7” broad and 29-inch vertical, before some hamstring difficulty slowed him down during the remaining events. If Smith continues at this pace, it is very likely that he will become a major D1 linebacker/defensive end prospect. |
 |
| Dakota Royer with Coach Schuman |
| Our look at Day 1 concludes with the Freshman MVP, which went to defensive end Dakota Royer of JP McCaskey High School in Pennsylvania. At 6-foot-3 and 196-pounds, this freshman had a 34.5-inch vertical, the top result for this event during the two day event. He also had a 9’ broad, 4.96 40, 4.36 shuttle, and 27 reps at 150-pounds. Though only a freshman, Royer has tremendous upside who could develop into a top speed rushing end. |
