| As the National Underclassmen Combine continues its trek across the country, it has been a season full of firsts. Another first recently occurred during a stop in Tampa, Florida, where QB Daunte Carr became the first freshman to win the Overall MVP during the morning session. |

Carr, 6-foot-2 and 173-pounds, plays for Georgia powerhouse, Buford High School, and showcased tremendous dual-threat abilities throughout the morning session. He also showed his overall athleticism during the combine events with a 33.5-inch vertical, 9’3 ½” broad, 4.79 40, 4.59 shuttle, and 26 reps at 135-pounds.
Carr, however, was not the only freshman to excel during the morning session. Winning the RB MVP and Fastest Man Award was James C. White, 5-foot-10 and 173-pounds, of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida. White was superior during 1-on-1’s and showed tremendous athleticism and fluidity in his movements. A 4.43 40 won him the Fastest Man Award, but he also impressed during the other combine events with a 8’9” broad, 4.58 shuttle, 28-inch vertical, and 20 reps at 135-pounds.
Winning the Freshman MVP was RB Kau Peck of George Jenkins High School in Florida. Peck, 5-foot-7 and 157-pounds, was excellent during 1-on-1’s and individual running back drills, plus had a 4.59 40, 4.57 shuttle, 8’3” broad, and 13 reps at 135-pounds. |

| Freshman Raymond Nixon of Wesley Chapel High School in Florida walked away as the winner of the OL MVP. Nixon, 6-foot-3 and 293-pounds, did a great job during 1-on-1’s, finished with a 5.62 shuttle, and showcased his strength by finishing with 34 reps at 150-pounds. |

| The final freshman to win an award was Khiry McQuay, 5-foot-7 ½ an 148-pounds, of Armwood Seffner High School in Florida. McQuay, winner of the DB MVP, was phenomenal during 1-on-1’s with 5 defended passes and 4 interceptions, while locking up wide receivers, running backs, and tight ends. During the combine events he finished with a 4.73 40, 4.49 shuttle, 8’6 ½” broad, and 20 reps at 135-pounds. |

| Another defensive back who deserves special mention is sophomore Logan Bernhardt of Ransom Everglades High School in Florida. Bernhardt, 6-foot-0 and 173-pounds, excelled during the combine events with a 31-inch vertical, 9’3” broad, 4.64 40, 4.48 shuttle, and 19 reps at 150-pounds. |

| As with the defensive backs,
two wide receivers set
themselves apart from the pack.
Winning the MVP was sophomore
Christian Lewis, 5-foot-7 ½ and
176-pounds, of Kennesaw Mountain
High School in Georgia. Lewis
was solid during 1-on-1’s, while
showcasing his physical style
and impressive hands. He also
had 32 reps at 150-pounds, a
28-inch vertical, 8’4 ½” broad,
4.51 shuttle, and 4.78 40. |

| Lewis won the MVP, but pushing him the entire way was sophomore William Ford of George Jenkins High School in Florida. Ford, 5-foot-8 and 163-pounds, continually showed great speed and athleticism throughout the morning. He had a 4.49 40, 8’6” broad, and 29.5-inch vertical. |

| Even though Carr stole the overall thunder at the quarterback position, it was sophomore Chris Schirripa of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Florida who walked away with the QB MVP. Schirripa, 6-foot-1 ½ and 177-pounds, was incredibly accurate during 1-on-1’s and individual drills, and overall showed picture perfect technique. He also had a 4.92 40, 4.31 shuttle, 26-inch vertical, 8’7” broad, and 19 reps at 150-pounds. |

| Tampa’s Freedom High School was home to LB MVP, sophomore Mike Deterlizzi. At 6-foot-0 and 196 ½ pounds, Deterlizzi stood out during 1-on-1’s with tremendous physical coverage and 1 interception and 2 defended passes. During the combine events he also had a 5.15 40 and 4.84 shuttle. |

| The final MVP of the morning session went to sophomore DL Xavier Melton of George Jenkins High School. Melton, 6-foot-2 and 268-pounds, was dominant during 1-on-1’s, and had a 23-inch vertical, 5.25 shuttle, 5.44 40, and 25 reps at 185-pounds. |
